"The Light" written by Master Chief Gordon Reynolds in 1974 while out at sea.

When I travel the oceans of this world in silent darkness, there is forever a light ahead. Whenever I am most alone and a coolness creeps over me, I look ahead to the light and warmth returns. When the storms of the sea overtake me, ahead in the light I find calm. When the waves of trouble would capsize me, ahead in the light is smooth water. When sadness is around me, ahead in the light I find happiness. When I look deep into the light, I see you. I love you, Gordon.
