Clara Olvey

Clara Inez Olvey, 96, of Luttrell, Tennessee, passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Beverly Park Place in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Born September 5, 1921 in Avondale, Arizona, she was the daughter of Morton G. Chrisman and Clara I. (Phillips) Chrisman. She

married Lawrence E. Olvey on April 27, 1940, and he preceded her on January 4, 1982.

Survivors include 8 children: Shelby Olvey (wife Ida) of Carlisle, Indiana, Francis Olvey (wife Stella) of Seymour, Sallie James (husband Kenneth) of Caycee, South Carolina, Christal Rau (husband Steven) of Luttrell, Tennessee, Thelma Heath (husband Henry) of Westport, Morton Olvey of Caycee, South Carolina, Judith Schwering of Westport, Susan Olvey of Columbus; 23 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, and 12 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, brother Louis Chrisman, sisters Mary Symmonds and Doris Banks, and a infant brother.

Mrs. Olvey lived in Luttrell for 16 years, after living for 12 years in Bunn, North Carolina. She was a homemaker, and had graduated from high school in Flagstaff, Arizona. She was a member of Wesley Chapel in Shelby County and also Hall's Baptist Church in Hall's Crossing, Tennessee.

Clara enjoyed crocheting, reading her Bible, and making rugs for those she attended church with. She was very involved in her church and church functions.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, with Pastor David Little officiating. Visitation will be Saturday morning from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Van Pelt Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to Clara I. Olvey Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
