Brown, Triton Central baseball beats Manual at home

The Triton Central baseball team defeated Manual 14-0 at home Saturday. The Tigers scored nine runs in the third inning en route to the win.

Aaron Steele led the effort with three hits for TC, while Matt Guhl collected two hits. Steele and Colton Brown finished with two RBIs each. Daniel Peterson finished with a triple.

Brown earned the win on the mound, finishing with four strikeouts in three innings of work. He allowed two hits.

TC is now 9-7.

Southwestern picks up win

The Southwestern baseball team picked up a victory Saturday at Providence Cristo Rey, winning 17-2 in six innings.

Will Doty got the win on the mound, pitching four innings. He allowed one hit and struck out six.

Anick Hartsell hit his second home run of the season, finishing with two hits and two RBIs. Chance Johnson was 4-for-5 with two RBIs. Anthony Atwood had two doubles and two RBIs. Doty helped his own cause, going 3-for-5 with a double, a triple and three RBIs.

SW is now 10-8.

Shelbyville softball drops pair

The Shelbyville softball team lost both of its games Saturday during the Shelbyville Invitational. The Golden Bears fell to Jennings County, 9-7, and Hamilton Southeastern, 13-2.

Against Jennings County, Katie Lux led the effort with three hits. Addisenn Weaver had two hits and two RBIs, while Katie Mathies and Kaylie Phelps had one hit and one RBI each. Weaver also hit a home run.

The team is now 17-7.
