Ann L. Lay

It is with great sadness that the family of Ann Lay announce her passing. Ann Lynn (Sanders) Lay, age 69, passed away peacefully. On Tuesday, May 15, 2018, Ann lost her courageous battle with breast cancer.

She was born March 16, 1949, in Shelbyville, Indiana, to Jack W. and Florine (Weintraut) Sanders.

She is survived by her sister, Jan (Sanders) Caton, of Shelbyville.

Ann married Paul E. Lay on Dec. 24, 1967. Together they had two children.

Survivors include daughter, Lori (Lay) Law; son-in-law, David Law; grandson, Nick Law; granddaughter, Abby Law, all of Indianapolis; and son, Andy; daughter-in-law, Diana (White) Lay; grandson, Jackson; and twin granddaughters, Carli and Allison, all of Columbus, Indiana.

She is preceded in death by her parents and husband.

She graduated from Shelbyville High School.

Ann worked as an interior design consultant for Sanders Interiors Inc., and as a teacher’s aide for Shelbyville Central Schools.

Ann, known as Gran by her five grandchildren, enjoyed family time, reading and was an exceptional cook.

Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, May 19, 2018, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, of Shelbyville.

Burial will be celebrated immediately following at Forest Hill Cemetery.
