Tigers show offensive power in rout of Irvington Prep

FAIRLAND – The Tigers opened sectional play in convincing fashion. TC handled Irvington Prep 10-0 in six innings Wednesday at the Triton Central Sectional.

Knightstown defeated Eastern Hancock 2-0 to also advance to Thursday’s title match.

Against Irvington Prep, the Tigers, who improved to 13-10 with the win, led 5-0 after the third inning and tacked on two runs in the fifth inning and three in the sixth to end the contest early.

TC finished with 12 hits on the night. Seniors Maecy Speece and Haley Schneider had three hits and two RBIs apiece. Freshman Elizabeth Mukka drove in three runs and had two hits, including a triple, while juniors Addison Meier and Katie Cook each finished with a double.

Speece earned the win on the mound to move to 5-2 this season. She tallied seven strikeouts and allowed just three hits.

TC earned its fifth consecutive victory Wednesday with its last loss coming on May 10.

According to the IHSAA, the winner of the Triton Central Sectional will head to Union County for regional action for a contest against the winner of the UC Sectional.
