Stephan S. Woods

Stephan “Steve” S. Woods, 52, of Bloomington, passed away on March 29, 2018.

Steve was born and raised in Shelbyville, Indiana, and lived with his wife, Jodi, and dog, Shadow, in Bloomington.

Steve was a sincere, spiritual, kind, funny and intelligent man; loving husband; devoted son, brother and family member; and good friend to many. Steve loved music and was an immensely talented multi-instrumentalist (guitar, banjo, drums, harmonica, etc.) and vocalist. He was also a skilled music recording and production enthusiast.

Steve played in many bands including the I.U. Marching 100, Kerosene Cucumbers, Swing Rays, Capones, Dave Gibson “Son That’s Country” Band, Sindicato, Southern Draw, Blue Rivieras, Hello Strangers, Knievals, Circuit Breakers, Hillbilly Central, Shameless Wanks, Pontificators, Radio Flyers, Bed Spins, Big Ol’ Things, Mixxe and Space Cowboys.

Steve worked at Guitarworks in Greenwood, Vance Music, Indiana DNR at Lake Monroe, and Roadworthy Guitars.

Steve was a man of many hobbies and interests, attending and playing music at Bill Monroe Music Park bluegrass festivals; combing antique and junk stores; collecting baseball cards, pocket knives, bullet pencils, field notes, vinyl records, instruments, and music-TV memorabilia; fishing, dog walking, baseball (Cubs and Reds), hunting mushrooms, grilling; model trains and model cars; going to concerts; watching old TV shows and movies, listening to records, reading and spending time with friends and family.

Steve is survived by his wife, Jodi Adkins; dog, Shadow; mother, Teresa Woods; sisters, Christy Woods and Sheri (Greg) Nolting; nieces and nephews, Brock Nolting, Emma Nolting, Sarah, Finnerty, Ian Finnerty, April Adkins, and David Adkins; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Dina Adkins Finnerty, Stephen Finnerty, Don Adkins and Cynthia Shively Adkins; along with many extended family members.

Steve was preceded in death by his father, Tom Woods; brother, Timothy Woods; mother-in-law, Edye Adkins; father-in-law, Joseph Adkins; and dog and fishing buddy, Joe.

A funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 14, 2018, at Allen Funeral Home and Crematory, 4155 S. Old State Road 37, Bloomington.

Family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Steve's memory to Bloomington Animal Shelter.
