On a hot day, some 50 golfers and 20 volunteers got in the swing of things to support SENSES Gym.

Their efforts raised approximately $15,000 for SENSES, a sensory-stimulation playroom open to all children ages 1-6 and very helpful to those with issues such as Down syndrome and autism.

Organizers Don Collins and his daughter, Holly Forville, said by email they expected to net $12,000 after costs.

“The proceeds of this event will help us pay for expenses such as facility rent, new and replacement equipment for the gym and other expenses,” they wrote.

Collins and Forville thanked everyone, especially Roger Clark and Randy Isley, who have worked to put on all three golf fundraisers.

SENSES, 1110 Amos Road, is closed until the end of August to allow for remodeling.

The gym will consider special requests to open. Contact Forville at 317-370-8238 or Collins at 317-398-6708.

Money from the golf outing also will help in preparation to relocate SENSES to the former Marsh Supermarket building, 1015 E. State Road 44.

The gym will become part of the facility when Shelbyville Central Schools opens its new pre-school program in the building, due to happen by the fall semester of 2019.
