Albert Harrison

Albert Harrison was born March 16, 1934 in Indianapolis, IN to Hershel and Irene (Russell) Harrison. His family then moved to Shelby County where his father was a dairy farmer. He followed his father's footsteps in the same profession. Albert graduated from Waldron High School. He was a two-sport letterman, playing catcher in baseball and guard in basketball. He developed a lasting love for both sports. He was an unwavering fan of IU basketball and Bob Knight as well as the Cincinnati Reds.

Albert enjoyed playing cards, especially Gin and had been invited to many national Gin Tournaments, often winning but even a loss could not deter his love of the game. Albert was well known at Center Grove schools as a daily route bus driver and could be counted on to always drive a fan bus for his favorite sports. His love for children of every age was evident and he could be found playing catch with the neighborhood kids.

Leaving farming he went to work for Center Grove Manufacturing Company. He then began working for Mitchel & Scott Bar Steel Company as a machinist and steel delivery driver retiring in 1998.

Albert was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Pauline Luttrell, and his son Mark Harrison.

He married Phyllis Ann (Wiley) Harrison on September 3, 1982, she survives.

He was married to Fern (Wagoner) Harrison, from 1955-1973 and survived by his children Cathy Lentz (Joseph), Penny Coffee of Glasgow, KY, Lori Ehle of Smith Valley and Chris Harrison (Natalie) of Columbus, IN. He has seven step-children. He has 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be at Jessen Funeral Home, 729 N. US HWY 31, Whiteland, IN, on Thursday 5-7p.m. Service Friday, at the funeral home at 11 a.m.
