Dairy Queen fundraiser for moms-to-be is today

By JOHN WALKER - jwalker@shelbynews.com

Customers of Dairy Queen will be supporting prenatal health this afternoon and evening.

In partnership with the MHP Medical Center, the local Dairy Queen, 1614 E. Michigan Road, will give 15 percent of its sale proceeds to BABY & ME – Tobacco Free.

The program helps pregnant women and their families quit smoking, and they can earn free diapers for participating.

A national nonprofit that advocates for family wellness, the Association of Maternal & Child Health Programs, recently designated the BABY & ME program a “Best Practice,” according to Gena Linville, marketing director for Major Health Partners.

The fundraiser at Dairy Queen today goes from 4 to 10 p.m.

Additional funding for the BABY & ME anti-smoking program comes from the Indiana State Health Department, the MHP Foundation and the Blue River Community Foundation.
