Carol Theobald

Carol Juanita Theobald, 97, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2018, at Springhurst Health Campus in Greenfield.

Born May 15, 1921, in Shelby County, she was the daughter of John Burt Piper and Jennie (Mansfield) Piper. She married Gordon Theobald on Feb. 14, 1941, and he preceded her on Dec. 15, 1995.

Survivors include a son, Dan Theobald (wife Peggy) of Greenfield, 5 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, son, Steve Theobald,  brothers, Marvin Piper and Burton Piper, and grandson, Matthew Theobald.

Mrs. Theobald was a lifelong resident of this area, and was a homemaker. She had previously worked from several years at Cinch Manufacturing, and had graduated from Morristown High School in 1939. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and had played the saxophone in the Sentimental Moods Dance Band, and also the Shelbyville Community Band for several years.

Juanita loved her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at noon on Friday, Aug. 10, 2018, at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, with Rev. Robert Campbell officiating. Friends may call on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to Shelbyville Community Band or First United Methodist Church, in care of the funeral home.
