VanDermark joins Dancing with the Stars performance cast

Pamela VanDermark, a geriatric nurse practitioner, will perform with Mike Dooley in this year’s Shelby County Dancing with the Stars event on Nov. 10.

Pamela VanDermark is the second nurse to join the performance cast for 2018 Shelby County Dancing with the Stars.

VanDermark is a geriatric nurse practitioner who works for Advanced Healthcare Associates. She has an ASN from Marian University, a BSN from Indiana Wesleyan University, and a MSN from the University of Indianapolis.

She is originally from eastern Kentucky but has lived in Shelby County for 23 years. She has two children named Alexus, age 24, and Tyler, 19.

VanDermark has no performance experience and wants to have fun in the fundraising event.

Her dance partner and instructor is Mike Dooley – a Dancing with the Stars veteran. 

Dooley is a lifelong resident of Shelby County and volunteer dance coach for the seventh year. Dooley and his wife, Sally – also a Dancing with the Stars instructor, have three grown children. 

He is the owner of Mike Dooley Pest Control and Mold Technologies LLC. Has has a BA from Indiana University with a paralegal certificate and studied at the Thomas M. Cooley School of Law. He enjoys photography and exploring ruins – he has climbed the steepest and tallest pyramid in Central America twice and also has hiked in the Andes Mountains in Chile.

Dooley is doing double duty in 2018, also dancing with Pat Schantz, a pre-planning counselor for Freeman Family Funeral Homes. His wife is dancing with David Fisher, a retired Purchasing Manager for Ryobi Die Casting.

The 2018 Shelby County Dancing with the Stars is Nov. 10 at Indiana Grand Racing & Casino in Shelbyville. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Dinner is served at 6:30 p.m. with the dancing to follow at 7:30 p.m. The event is a major fundraiser for Shelby Senior Services and Shelby County Players. 

Tickets for the event are currently on sale at Shelby Senior Services, 1504 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.

Ticket prices are $75 per person or $600 for a table of eight. Pub table seating also is available for $150. 

The performers will offer a preview of their dances on Oct. 26 at Breck Auditorium at Shelbyville High School. Tickets for the “Sneak Peek” are $10 per person.
