PNC Bank's Marcum accepts dancing challenge

PNC Bank’s Jamie Marcum will dance with Tyler Hartman in the 2018 Shelby County Dancing with the Stars event on Nov. 10.

PNC Bank’s Jamie Marcum will challenge herself while raising funds for two worthwhile causes.

Marcum, a Waldron High School and Indiana Wesleyan University graduate, who is now the Business Banking Center Manager at PNC Bank, is the latest competitor announced for the 2018 Shelby County Dancing with the Stars fundraising event that will take place on Nov. 10 at Indiana Grand Racing & Casino in Shelbyville.

Marcum and her husband, Shelbyville firefighter/paramedic Danny Marcum, have two sons, Tristan (age 17) and Jordan (14).

She is the past president and a current board member of the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce, a past SCUFFY president and current board member, and past Waldron Will treasurer. She also is a board member for the Shelby County Purdue Extension and a member of Kappa Kappa Kappa Gamma Delta sorority. She enjoys shopping, crafting, “junkin” at vintage shops and glamping.

Marcum has no performance experience but her goal is to step out of her comfort zone and help two local organizations.

Marcum’s dance partner is Tyler Hartman, now in his second year as a Shelby County Dancing with the Stars coach.

Hartman is a 2011 Triton Central High School graduate and 2015 graduate of Ball State University (Dance Performance degree). He works as a professional dancer and dance instructor at Style Dance Academy.

Hartman, the son of Mel and Cheryl Hartman, is married to Andrew Derry of Michigan. He was a competitive dancer from ages 7-19 and has performed in “The Nutcracker” at Ball State University and has several musical theatre credits, most recently performing in “Mary Poppins” at the Indianapolis Civic Theatre.

One of Hartman’s goals is to inspire his dance partner and the community on the worthiness of the Arts and the role it plays in uplifting others.

Shelby County Dancing with the Stars is a major fundraiser for Shelby Senior Services and Shelby County Players. Tickets are currently on sale at Shelby Senior Services, 1504 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.

Tickets prices are $75 per person or $600 for a table of eight. Pub table seats are $150.

Doors open Nov. 10 at Indiana Grand Racing & Casino at 5:30 p.m. Dinner is at 6:30 p.m. The dance competition follows at 7:30 p.m.

The “Sneak Peek” event is Oct. 26 at Shelbyville High School’s Breck Auditorium. The performers will have the opportunity to showcase their dance routine on stage in front of a crowd in preparation for the Nov. 10 event.

Tickets for the “Sneak Peek” are $10 per person and are available at Shelby Senior Services or Mickey’s T-Mart in Shelbyville.
