Dewey continues to make mark at Xavier

Dewey, a Triton Central graduate, assisted on the game-winning goal for the Xavier soccer team on Sept. 6 to take a 1-0 win over Bowling Green in double overtime. Dewey set up teammate Andie Kennard for the goal to give Xavier their first road win of the season. The team’s (4-4) next contest will be Sept. 13 at Dayton.

Nick Yeend

Yeend, a Southwestern graduate, finished 20th (26:15.00) in the fourth scoring spot for Indiana State’s cross country team during the Miami Opener on Aug. 31. The men’s team finished second with 41 points and will next host their John McNichols invitational on Sept. 15.

Bailey Chandler

Chandler, a Triton Central graduate, finished with five assists in a 3-0 win over Massachusetts Lowell for the Eastern Illinois volleyball team last week. The Panthers are currently 3-8 and will next participate in the Bradley Braves Tournament with a match against Bradley on Sept. 14.

Brianna Ayres

Ayres, a Shelbyville graduate, won her singles bracket for IU East at the River States Conference Individual Tournaments on Sept. 8.

Ally Williams

Williams, a Triton Central graduate, posted three assists and 19 digs for Hanover College’s volleyball team on Sept. 8 in a 3-2 loss to Centre. Currently 5-2, the team will next take on Ohio Wesleyan on Sept. 14.

AJ Lux

Lux, a former Golden Bear, finished with 14 kills and 15 points in four sets played for the East Tennessee volleyball team on Sept. 8 in a 3-1 victory over Duke. The team improved to 8-2 on the year and will next take on Western Kentucky on Sept. 14.

Dillon Nelson

Nelson, a Triton Central graduate, was named HCAC Special Teams Player of the Week after punting the ball six times for a total of 233 yards in Manchester’s 55-7 loss at Trine on Aug. 30. Most recently, Nelson punted the ball three times on Sept. 8 in a 39-33 loss to Alma for 65 yards. He finished with five assisted tackles and an interception on defense, as well.

Austin Coughlin and Jacob Cooper

Also playing for Manchester, the Triton Central graduates each finished with a number of tackles in the 39-33 loss to Alma on Sept. 8. Coughlin finished with five tackles and three assisted, while Cooper finished with two tackles and assisted on three.
