Indianapolis man arrested after shots fired, foot pursuit

By ROSS FLINT - rflint@shelbynews.com

An Indianapolis man is in the Shelby County Jail after the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department tracked him down following a chase on foot by a homeowner whose home the man had been in uninvited.

Cory Sowers, 29, was arrested for burglary and robbery with warrants out of Marion County. Units responded to a report of shots being fired in downtown Flat Rock on Tuesday, and while in route, were informed that the homeowner had chased a white male that he had seen in his home.

The male, Sowers, ran south and southeast to a farm lot from the area, where he was caught by sheriff’s deputies.

The sheriff’s department found a shell casing in the area where Sowers had been.

He remains in jail on $5,005 bond and has a court date scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Nov. 14.

The sheriff’s department continues to investigate the incident.
