Spartans get back on track

The Southwestern tennis team beat Indy Tech 5-0 on Wednesday to improve to 8-2 this season. The victory comes after a 3-2 loss to Triton Central in the Shelby County Tournament final Tuesday.

At No. 1 singles, Nick Robinson beat Jalen Walker 6-1, 6-0, while Grant Emerick topped Victor Hurt 6-0, 6-3 at No. 2. At No. 3 singles, Triston Pappano defeated Darron Johnson 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles play, Connor Rowe and Decklan Pappano beat Jason Solio and Alex Lynn 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1. Ryan Brockman and Anthony Atwood won by forfeit at No. 2.

TC wins again

Triton Central, fresh off its Shelby County Tournament win over Southwestern, beat Lutheran 4-1 on Wednesday.

Luke Sanders handled Hogan Scanlan 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles. Jordan Brandman continued his strong play, as well, defeating Nik Jeffries 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2 singles.

In doubles play, Ryan Shipley and Blake Anderson beat Jonas Akers and Cohl Erwin 6-3, 6-4, while Cameron Elder and Alex Crouse topped Nick HIatt and Riley Settlemyre 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2.

TC is now 6-6.

Speedway gets by TC

Triton Central's volleyball team fell to Speedway on Wednesday, 1-3. The Tigers lost 9-25, 23-25, 25-22, 23-25.

TC was on a nine-game win streak before the loss and is now 12-4 on the season.

Addison Meier and Ella Blair led the Tigers with nine kills each against Speedway. Maggie Schweitzer had 23 digs and 27 assists and Meier added 18 digs.
