Felling reaches 1,000 points on road

Triton Central senior guard Wyatt Felling reached 1,000 points for his career Saturday in a win over Southwestern.

Triton Central senior guard Wyatt Felling surpassed the 1,000-point mark Saturday in a 72-62 win over Southwestern.

Felling scored 33 points to help TC earns its second consecutive win after an 0-2 start. Sophomore guard David Steele added 15 points in the win.

Senior Blake McClure and junior Austin Blocher led SW (1-2) with 17 points each. Blocher made five threes and McClure had five rebounds. Senior Caleb Hodson finished with 13 points in the loss, while teammate Drew Drake, a junior, finished with nine points and seven rebounds.

Felling is on track to break Mike Wells’ scoring record of 1,281 points at TC. It was set in 1965. 

IFCA names All State teams

Triton Central senior defensive back Aaron Steele has been named Top 50 All State for the 2018 season, the Indiana Football Coaches Association announced over the weekend.

It is the fourth time Steele, who missed the last part of the season with an injury, has been named All State. He has also been named All-Indiana Crossroads Conference for four consecutive seasons while breaking seven Triton Central school records.

TC junior tight end Luke Hornung made the Junior All State team for Class 2A.

Waldron basketball falls at Edinburgh

The Waldron basketball team fell at Edinburgh on Saturday in a back and forth game, according to WHS head coach Will Staal.

The Mohawks (1-3) lost 59-49 after trailing 24-20 at the break.

Waldron sophomore Tyler Bowlby led all players with 17 points on 50 percent shooting. He added three rebounds and five assists.

Junior Parker Huffman was the game’s second leading scorer with 15 points. Senior Zane Smith added eight points and seven rebounds. Smith got into foul trouble and fouled out in the fourth, Staal said.

SHS loses at home

The Shelbyville girls’ basketball team fell to Batesville Saturday at home, 44-32. The Golden Bears are now 3-5 overall and host New Palestine today.

MT drops contest to Oldenburg

Oldenburg handed Morristown its first loss of the season Saturday in Morristown, 64-47. The Yellow Jackets (3-1) were led in scoring by senior guard Logan Laster, who had 26 points.

Junior Trevon Carlton, who is shooting 85 percent from the field this season, added eight points on 4 of 4 shooting. Oldenburg outscored the home team 17-7 in the fourth quarter to seal the win.

TC competes at Milan

The Triton Central wrestling team competed in the Milan Invitational on Saturday.

Landen Gaddy (5-0), Carson Alfrey (5-0) and Josh Thacker (4-1) won individual titles. Jonathan Riggins (4-1) was runner-up.
