Roy Allen Jr.


Roy Allen Jr., 75, of Shelbyville, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2018, at his residence.

Born May 21, 1943, in Hazard, Kentucky, he was the son of Roy Allen Sr. and Frankie Mae (Williams) Allen. He married Marjorie (Spencer) Allen on March 20, 1963, and she survives.

Other survivors include 3 children, Helen Allen of Shelbyville, Roy Allen III of Shelbyville, and Melissa Steele (husband, Steve) of Fairland; 6 siblings, Ruby Kathka of Idaho, Eva Mae Neace of Ky., Ray Allen of Ind., Faye Neace of Ky., Clay Allen of Ind., and Mike Allen of Ky.; 5 grandchildren, Adam Steele, Caleb Steele, Aaron Steele, David Steele, Tiffany Emsweller; and one great-granddaughter, Natalie Mae Emsweller.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Kelly Allen; four sisters, Bessie Faye Allen, Loretta Allen, Annalee Weimann, and Barbara Brown.

Mr. Allen had lived in this area since 1962, moving from Ky. He had been a factory worker at General Motors in Indianapolis for 32 years, retiring in 2004. He graduated from M.C. Napier High School in Hazard in 1961 and was a member of Faith Trinity Pentecostal Church and the Greenwood Masonic Lodge. Roy enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, mowing grass, and watching University of Kentucky basketball.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2018, at Faith Trinity Pentecostal Church, 505 W. Pennsylvania St., with Pastor Perry Fouts officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.

Burial will be in London Cemetery.
