Families of the inaugural preschool class that will be attending Shelbyville Central School’s Golden Bear Preschool can now begin registering.

Pre-registration began Monday for 3-4 year olds.

Likewise, the registration for kindergarten students has also begun and will continue until Jan. 31.

The application for the new preschool is available at the corporation’s website, preschool.shelbycs.org. It’s also available at all three elementary schools.

Applications should be returned between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Fridays at Shelbyville High School.

The preschool, located at the old Marsh building at 1115 E. State Road 44, will offer full and half-day programs. Before and after school care will also be available.

The remodeled 60,000 square foot building will feature 15 classrooms, a kitchen and cafeteria and space for a speech pathologist, occupational therapist, physical therapist, school nurse and a sensory room for Senses. It will also have indoor and outdoor play areas and will be the new home for the SCS administration office.

For more information on the pre-registration for the preschool, contact Lora Nigh at lanigh@shelbycs.org or Debby McLeod at 317-398-9731 ext. 2307.

SCS is also ready to enroll children who are 5 years old by Aug. 1 for kindergarten.

Those families should contact their home school by Jan. 31 to pick up the packet.

The 13th annual parent fair for all incoming kindergarten and preschool students is also scheduled to take place April 4.
