STAFF REPORT -

Scott Asher has announced his intention to run for the City of Shelbyville’s Clerk Treasurer.

The 47-year-old Republican has served on the County Council since 2008, and as Council President in 2013 and 2014. He is presently employed as Programs Director at the J. Kenneth Self Shelby County Boys & Girls Club in Shelbyville. Asher and his wife, Christina, are owners of West Side Pub & Grub LLC in Shelbyville.

“I hold a deep sense of pride in Shelbyville and am interested in promoting its continued development,” said Asher. “I have a vested interest in the prosperity and future of this community and I feel I can best demonstrate that public dedication by seeking the office of City Clerk Treasurer.”

Asher is a 1990 graduate of Shelbyville High School and attended Ball State University and IUPUI. He has served as board president for the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce and Shelby County Drug Free Coalition.

A life-long Shelbyville resident, Scott and Christina Asher have two children: Christopher (age 22) and Lauren (19).

Asher will be running against Amy Glackman to secure the Republican nomination on May 7. The winner of the Primary Election will then face Democratic incumbent Frank Zerr in the Nov. 5 General Election.
