Nathan Willis to seek Second Ward seat

Nathan Willis has announced his candidacy for the Second Ward City Council seat.

Willis currently serves as the Second Ward candidate after he was caucused in by the Republican Party to fill the remaining term of David Carmony, who moved to Anderson.

Willis is a 2008 graduate of Shelbyville High School. While at Shelbyville, he was a member of the swim team and won the Rotary Award his senior year. Additionally, he worked as a lifeguard for the Shelbyville Parks and Recreation Department during his high school and college years.

Willis earned his degree in Respiratory Therapy in 2012. He currently works as a supervisor in the Level 1 trauma hospital Eskenazi in Indianapolis. Additionally, he works at Major Health Partners in Shelbyville.

Willis and his wife, the former Abigail Sempsrote, reside on Shelby St. and are expecting their first child, a boy, in May.

He is currently working on a plan to counter drug addiction in Shelbyville. He also is a member of Backyard Shelby, a group of young professionals helping to attract and retain other young professionals and families to Shelbyville.
