Tigers, Golden Bears compete at Yorktown Invite

The Triton Central and Shelbyville golf teams competed in the Yorktown Invitational on Saturday.

For TC, which finished in ninth out of 16 teams, Drew Rowen shot an 85. Jordan Brandman finished with a 91, Luke Sanders a 92 and Cody O’Neill a 95 (363 team score).

For SHS, which shot a 447, Nolen Chaney carded a 101, Matt Bunton a 103, Ethan Apsley a 105 and Alex Grove a 138.

TC splits with Rising Sun

The Triton Central softball team split its doubleheader with Rising Sun on Saturday. Rising Sun edged the Tigers in the first game, 7-6, before TC earned a win in Game 2, 13-1.

The Tigers had 12 hits in Game 1 and 14 in the second. Sydney Bass was 3-for-4 at the plate in both games. Five players had at least two hits in the Game 2 win.

Liz Mukka took the loss on the mound in the first contest but regrouped to pick up a victory in the second.

SHS handles Pike

The Shelbyville softball team topped Pike 19-1 on Saturday. The Golden Bears registered 20 hits in the win.

Addisenn Weaver led the effort with four hits and three RBIs. Kaylie Phelps had a team-high five RBIs to go with three hits. Katie Mathies, Karissa Hamilton and Madison Campton also had three hits. Hamilton hit her second home run this season, while Campton knocked in four runs.

Erica Henry earned the win on the mound for SHS.

TC baseball sweeps Rushville

The Triton Central baseball team swept Rushville on Saturday in a doubleheader.

TC is now 3-1 this season.
