Charles McDaniel


Charles G. McDaniel, 75, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2019, at OUR Hospice Inpatient Facility in Columbus.

Born June 18, 1943, in Tennessee, he was the son of Henry McDaniel and Ethel (Chenault) McDaniel. He married Betty (Gomez) McDaniel on June 25, 1971, and she preceded him on Oct. 30, 2014.

Survivors include three sons, Joe Collier of Shelbyville, Tony Collier (wife, Tracey) of Morristown, and Charlie McDaniel (wife, Kimmie) of Franklin; a daughter, Debbie Peck of Shelbyville; brother, Bobby McDaniel of Missouri; sister, Jan McDaniel of Shelbyville; 10 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; spouse; brother, Jamie McDaniel; and grandson, Chad Collier.

Mr. McDaniel lived in this area for most of his life and attended Shelbyville High School.

He was an owner/operator truck driver for several different trucking companies, including Hall Bros.Transportation for many years. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.

Charles enjoyed camping and traveling with his wife, Betty, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. on Monday, May 13, 2019, at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road.

Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call on Monday morning from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service.
