Muck leaps over Southwestern school record

Southwestern’s Alison Muck broke the school record in the 100 hurdles (16.70) on Tuesday during sectional action.

The Southwestern and Waldron girls' track and field teams competed at the Franklin Community Sectional on Tuesday.

Southwestern freshman Alison Muck had an impressive meet, breaking a school record in one event and advancing to regional action in another.

Muck broke SW's 100-meter hurdles record, finishing in 16.53 during prelims. She was sixth in the finals in 16.70. The old school record at SW was 16.6, set by Hailey Temple. 

Muck was third overall in the high jump (4-10) and will compete at the Shelbyville Regional next week.

Also for SW, Maggie Correll was sixth in the high jump and Abby Muck was fifth in the prelims of the 100 dash but did not finish in the finals. Abby Muck finished seventh in the 200 prelims but did not run in the finals. Taylor Tatlock was fourth overall in the discus throw, while Madison Van Gorden also competed in the event and was 10th. 

For Waldron, Hannah Sullivan was fourth in long jump and seventh in high jump. Morgan Wood was eighth in the 100 hurdles and ninth in the 300s. Bella Larrison was ninth in the 1,600 and 3,200, while Waldron's 3,200 relay team of Hallie and Hadlie Ross, Victoria Shaw and Larrison finished sixth overall. 

Southwestern finished the meet in eighth place with 19 points. Waldron was ninth with 12.5. Center Grove won the meet with 156 points. Columbus North was second with 108. 

TC falls to CC

The Triton Central softball team was defeated by Covenant Christian 18-8 on Tuesday. 

Sydney Bass led TC with three hits. Madison Hartman and Addison Meier each had two hits. Savannah Trueblood hit a home run and finished with two RBIs. 

Rushville tops WHS

The Waldron softball team fell to Rushville on Tuesday, 10-0. 

Morgan Hungerford had a single for the Mohawks. Maddie Robinson finished with two strikeouts in the circle.

WHS drops game to GCA

The Waldron baseball team fell to Greenwood Christian Academy on Tuesday, 12-4. 

Stephan Scudder had a triple and Jacobi Percell, Bryce Flippen and Eli Jones added doubles. Jacob Yantiss finished with one RBI.

Hauser beats Morristown

The Morristown baseball team fell to Hauser on Tuesday, 28-0. 

WHS tennis swings past Rushville

The Waldron tennis team beat Rushville 4-1 on Tuesday. 

Victoria Robledillo won her No. 1 singles match 6-1, 6-1. The Mohawks only senior, Lilly Sizemore, won 7-5, 4-6, 10-8 at No. 2 singles.

Mackenzie Shaw and Caroline Sheaffer won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles and Megan Bogemann and Nichole Garner won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2 doubles.

TC gets past Hauser

The Triton Central tennis team improved to 14-1 with a 4-1 win over Hauser on Tuesday. 

At No. 1 singles, Emily LeMasters topped Abby Johnson 6-7 (4), 6-1, 11-9 in a competitive match. At No. 2 singles, Maya Chandler beat Melanie Taylor 6-2, 6-4, while Rylie Stephens defeated Andie Clark 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3. 

At No. 1 doubles, Julia Sanders and Ainsley Denton beat Carly Archer and Maddy Archer 0-6, 6-4, 6-0. 

Bunton leads SHS

The Shelbyville golf team was in action on Tuesday. The team fell to Whiteland, 120-156. Three scores were used to determine the winner. 

Will Davis of Whiteland was medalist with a 39. 

For SHS, Matt Bunton led the way with a 47. Nolen Chaney shot a 52 and Ethan Apsley a 57.
