Freedom Festival offers variety of entertainment

The Waldron Freedom Festival has a full slate scheduled as it moves to the weekend this year, but like in previous years, it culminates with a fireworks show by Premier Pyro on Saturday.

The fireworks show is scheduled to begin at 10:15 p.m. Saturday, preceded by the Star Spangled Banner performed by Nick Fischer and Rick Haymond on the main stage.

Three bands perform on Saturday — Pressed in Black at 5 p.m.; Blue Ridge Banned at 6:30 p.m.; and Glamerica at 8:15 p.m. All shows will be on the main stage.

Trent Moss and the Fairland Ramblers will also take the stage at 7:30 p.m. tonight.

Other highlights of the weekend include the second annual parachute invasion inside the high school track at 6:45 p.m. tonight; and on Saturday, the cook-off competition, with participants allowed to begin at 6 a.m., the baby contest at 10:30 a.m. and the parade at 2 p.m.
