Helen Mohr


Helen J. Mohr, 89, of Shelbyville, passed away Sunday, Aug. 11, 2019, at Walker Place in Shelbyville.

She was born Feb. 6, 1930, in Phoenix, Arizona, the daughter of Henry and Gladys (Weber) Hey. On March 7, 1948, in Covington, Kentucky, she married Bruce L. Mohr, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 2, 1995.

Helen is survived by her son, Larry Mohr, and wife, Nancy, of Flat Rock; daughters, Linda Muck and husband, David, of Marietta, Patricia Lux and husband, Nick, of Shelbyville, Cathy Gorrell and husband, Phil, of Sun City West, Ariz., and Sharon Wesley and husband, Bob, of Campbellsburg; sister, Charlotte Cole of Marion; grandchildren, Jennifer Muck, Jeanne Correll, Michael Muck, Joanna Yeend, Joshua Mohr, Jeremy Lux, Jared Lux, Jason Gorrell, Jeff Gorrell and Jaime Brown; 26 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to Bruce, Helen was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Caleb Mohr; sisters, Dorcas Daniel, Jonita Gregory, Nancy Tanner, Marjorie Hey and Mary Baird; and brother, Robert Hey.

Helen graduated from Waldron High School in 1948.

She was a member of the Lewis Creek Baptist Church, where she was a deacon and in the Loyal Messengers class.

Helen was an agent for Shelby Crop Insurance for 25 years.

She was also a former member of the Friendly Fennettes Home Economics Club, and a Hand and Foot Card Club.

Helen enjoyed flower gardening and sewing.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2019, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, 2019, at the funeral home, with Pastor Harvey Taylor officiating.

Interment will be at Lewis Creek Baptist Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lewis Creek Baptist Church Building Fund, 1400 ECR 600 S, Waldron, IN 46182.
