Phyllis Mahan

Phyllis Ann (Logan) Mahan, 80, a life long Rush County area resident, passed away Sept. 3, 2019, in Indianapolis surrounded by her family.

Phyllis was born April 11, 1939, in Rushville to Ross and Rowena (McMillan) Logan. She was a 1957 graduate of Arlington High School and attended Ozark Bible College in Joplin, Missouri, for two years. She married Norman Mahan on Dec. 21, 1962, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 25, 2015.

Phyllis lived in Milroy most of her life and babysat in her home for many years. She also worked at the Child Center and Cossairts Greenhouse in Shelbyville.

She was a long time member of the Moscow Christian Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and youth group leader. Phyllis also was a Girl Scout leader and enjoyed the Happy Homemakers Club. She enjoyed the Bible and became as fluent with its teachings and readings as most professors at Bible college.

She is survived by her children, MaryBeth Mahan of Shelbyville, Robert (Ellen) Mahan of Rushville, Donna Mahan and Laura Mahan both of Meridian, Idaho; a sister, Helen Perkins of Cincinnati; and grandchildren, Jessica Lorraine, Logan Robert and Ian Ross Mahan.

Phyllis was preceded in death by sisters, Geraldine White and Ruth Osborne; and brothers, Bill and Harold Logan and infant brothers, John Wayne, James E. and Ross Albert Logan.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019, in the Moscow Christian Church with Minister Bruce Pierce presiding. Friends are welcome to visit the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, 2019, in Moster Mortuary, Rushville.

Burial will be in Rushville's East Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Moscow Christian Church.
