Mohawks improve to 9-4 with win over Indiana Deaf

The Waldron volleyball team improved to 9-4 this season with a 3-0 win over Indiana Deaf on Tuesday. The Mohawks won 25-21, 25-13, 25-9. 

Lauren Fischer led WHS with 11 kills in the win. Nichole Garner had eight kills and Madalyn Hudnall had seven kills. 

Setter Maddi Tyree finished with 30 assists. 

Libero Megan Bogemann led the defense with 19 digs. Shelby Fewell had 11 digs and Garner had 10. Garner also added six aces. 

Yellow Jackets fall to Hauser

Hauser beat the Morristown volleyball team on Tuesday, 3-0. The Jets won 25-18, 25-21. 25-19. 

The Yellow Jackets are now 7-4 this season. The team plays again today at Triton Central. 

Tennis

SHS drops match to Greensburg

The Shelbyville tennis team fell to Greensburg 2-3 on Tuesday. 

SHS won both doubles matches against the Pirates. Luke Asher and Layton Stieneker won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles, while Matthew Bunton and Austin Perry won 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2 doubles. 

SW defeated by Knightstown

The Southwestern tennis team fell to Knightstown on Tuesday, 0-5. 

Grant Emerick had a close match at No. 3 singles for the Spartans. He lost 4-6, 5-7 to Brady Howell. 

The Spartans are 3-4 overall and 3-1 in the MHC. The team hosts the Shelby County Tournament on Saturday. 

TC tops Hauser

The Triton Central tennis team beat Hauser 4-1 on Tuesday.  

At No. 2 singles, Alex Crouse beat Keagan Miller 7-5, 6-3, while Jack Baker defeated Levi Gollmer 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles. 

In doubles play, Ryan Shipley and Blake Anderson beat Sam Miller and Caleb Hoover 6-4, 6-0 at No. 1. At No. 2 doubles, Wyatt Robey and Quintin Potts topped Carson Rose and Dawson Paul 6-3, 6-0. 

TC is now 6-3 overall.

Rushville gets past Waldron

The Waldron tennis team was defeated by Rushville on Tuesday, 1-4. 

At No. 1 doubles, Waldron’s Shawn Cole and Dakota Tillison teamed up for the first time, winning 6-4, 6-2 against Cameron Jackman and Braiden Hunter. It was Cole’s 10th win of the season.

Girls Soccer

SHS drops HHC game

The Shelbyville soccer team fell to Pendleton Heights 5-0 on Tuesday in Hoosier Heritage Conference play. 

The Golden Bears are now 1-4 overall and 1-2 in the HHC. 

SHS hosts Triton Central today. 

Hahn scores four goals

The Triton Central soccer team beat Speedway 4-2 Tuesday in Indiana Crossroads Conference play. TC’s Sarah Hahn had all four goals for the Tigers. Hahn now has 16 goals this season. 

The Tigers are 6-1 overall and 3-0 in the ICC. 

TC travels to Shelbyville today for a county battle. 

Boys Soccer

SW moves to 6-1

The Southwestern soccer team improved to 6-1 Tuesday with a 5-3 win over Irvington Prep.

Aidan Hartsell scored three goals for a hat trick. He also had an assist. Anick Hartsell finished with two goals and two assists in the win. 

In goal, Christian DeArmitt had six saves (zero goals allowed). Eli Fix also played in goal Tuesday, finishing with three saves (three goals allowed).

Aidan Hartsell leads the Spartans with 12 goals this season. Anick Hartsell has eight goals and nine assists.  

Shelbyville blanks Batesville

The Shelbyville soccer team beat Batesville 4-0 on Tuesday. 

Cory Taylor led SHS with two goals and one assist in the win. Nolan Parker (header off rebound) and Eddie Carrizalez also scored. 

Keeper Kaleb Schaf recorded his third shutout of the season for the Golden Bears. 

SHS is now 4-3-2 overall. 

Golf

Kerber leads Spartans

The Southwestern golf team finished in second place in a three-way meet on Tuesday with Indian Creek and Edinburgh. Indian Creek won with a 208. SW finished with a 228 and Edinburgh finished with a 229. 

Lily Kerber led the Spartans with a round of 50. Also for SW, Maggie Correll shot a 57, Lexi Wilkins a 60 and Meridian Beal a 61. 

Indian Creek’s Hannah Emenhiser was medalist Tuesday with a 43. 

SW is 5-6 overall this season.
