Andy Kirby to speak at local ARC dinner on Nov. 26

The joint holiday membership dinner meeting of The Arc of Shelby County and the Shelbyville VC Aktion Club takes place Nov. 26 at the Briley Family Center of the Trinity United Methodist Church.

The guest speaker for the dinner will be Andy Kirby, the associate executive director at The Arc of Indiana and the executive director of The Arc of Indiana’s Foundation. The role allows him hands on leadership and administrative responsibilities of the Erskine Green Training Institute, which is the vehicle utilized by the foundation to provide post-secondary vocational skills training to people with disabilities.

Kirby has a bachelor’s degree in business administration and an MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University and has worked in the developmental disabilities field for 15 years. He also is a program and administrator surveyor for CARF, the accrediting agency for service providers serving people with disabilities.

Kirby will discuss the Erskine Green Training Institute successes and opportunities. He will discuss the wide range of programs and supports The Arc of Indiana offers to local Arc chapters, to parents of people living with a disability and to people with an intellectual or developmental disability. He also will discuss the duties of the many staff members The Arc has in Indianapolis to help those in the same audiences.

After 20 years in Grant County, Indiana, Kirby recently moved to the far northeast side of Indianapolis with his wife, Kathy.
