Police arrest Fairland man for robbery


The Shelbyville Police Department arrested Paul Logan Hochgesang Thursday after it was notified of an attempted robbery at First Merchants Bank in Shelbyville.

At approximately 1:22 p.m. Thursday, the police department was informed of an attempted robbery at the downtown Shelbyville bank, 29 E. Washington Street.

A description was given of a male who left the bank and headed northbound.

Patrol officers responded and located the male a few blocks north of the bank.

The male was identified at Hochgesang, age 27, of Fairland, Indiana. He was subsequently arrested after cooperating with the Criminal Investigations Division.

No one was harmed during the incident, according to the police department’s media release. An no one else was believed to be involved.

Hochgesang is being held at the Shelby County Jail on a preliminary charge of robbery, a level 3 felony.
