The Blue River Community Foundation announced its 2021 Community Grant Cycle Recipients.

Ten recipients were approved for a total of $167,671.

The recipients are Flat Rock River YMCA Camp, the Shelbyville Band Boosters, Gleaners Food Bank, Girls Inc., The Shelby County Fair Association, Shelbyville High School Earth Club, the Blue River Cross Country Course, the Grover Center, Early Learning Shelby County, and the Shelbyville Parks and Recreation Department.

Notably, the Band Boosters will use its grant for the Marching in the Rain Program; Girls Inc. will use it for its Loss of Learning Summer Camp; the Fair Association will purchase an electronic information sign; Blue River Cross Country Course will use it a new PA system; and Grover Museum will use it for a new exhibit.

In its June newsletter, BCRF highlighted that the Parks Department will be using this grant to help put on its free Shakespeare in the Park event, which will feature the Brown Box Theater’s production of “Much Ado About Nothing.” The show will be 7 p.m. July 24.
