Shelby County Chamber Executive Director, Donna Christian, thinks virtual job fairs sound perfect for the job seeker.

“Going to a job fair takes quite a bit of time,” she said. “After you drive to the job fair you may not find anything that appeals to you, or there are lines at the employers that you wish to speak with. With a virtual job fair, you can watch it ‘live’ and ask questions. You can watch it later and still have the opportunity to learn about the employer, the culture of the business, and apply.”

Each person that signs up with get a link to watch after the “live” fair. It’s a win-win for the job seeker and the employer, Christian added.

Courtney Chapella, Member Relations Manager for the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce said, “A virtual career fair gives candidates and employers the same opportunity to come together and try to find a good match that they would have at an in-person event. The job applicant can virtually chat with the employer and quickly turn those chats into email conversations and phone interviews, so this really speeds up the time getting the job seeker into his/her new job.”
