Active Duty and Veterans parade cancelled

The United States veterans and active-duty service members parade originally scheduled for Sunday at the fairgrounds has been cancelled, according to a message from the event organizer.

Genealogy and Family History Fair at Library Oct. 2

The Shelby County Library’s Genealogy Department will host a Genealogy and Family History Fair from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2.

The event will feature a department open house, genealogy booths, heirloom crafts, scrapbooking, quilting and more, according to a flyer.

There will also be two Key Note Speakers: Jodi Bondy, a Hoosier Photo Organizer, who will present “Preserving and Organizing your Family Photos” at 10:30 a.m.; and

Tamara Hemmerlein, Indiana Historical Society Director of Local History, who will present “Document Preservation” at 2:30 p.m.

Shelby County Special Olympics to host Chili Cook Off

The Shelby County Special Olympics will host a chili cook off from 5-7 p.m. Oct. 9 at the Shelby County Fairgrounds.

There will be a $5 entry fee at the door for anyone seeking to taste/judge the contest. All proceeds benefit the Shelby County Special Olympics.
