the Indiana State Chili Championships will be May 1-2 at the Knights of Columbus. This is an International Chili Society (ICS) and Chili Appreciation Society International (CASI) sanctioned event.

ICS and CASI cooks from all over the Midwest will be presenting their best chili for the contest and for public tasting.

Any locals wanting to enter will need to go the ICS website (https://www.chilicookoff.com) to register for the contest. That process will explain the rules.

The site opens at 7am for cooks only. The public is welcome at noon Saturday and 11 Sunday for tastings. Judging begins at noon on Saturday and 11 a.m. on Sunday. If anyone wants to judge, they can reach out to Trent Atwood at 317-512-1722.

Cooks will make additional pots of chili for the public to taste. Public tastings cost $5, according to a Shelby Shifters Facebook post.

All proceeds will go to the Knights of Columbus charities.

Shelby Shifters will be participating in helping promote the Indiana stay Chili cookoff by having a cruise-in on May 1.
