Martha Belle Good Swain, 91, of Rush County, Arlington, IN passed away on July 21, 2021, in Vincennes, IN. She was born on October 3, 1929, in Shelby County, IN to the late Wilbur and Laura (Theobald) Good. Martha graduated from Manilla High School in 1947 and attended Purdue University. She married Joseph F. Swain on March 26, 1950, and they shared 69 wonderful years together. Joseph preceded her in death on April 28, 2019.

Martha and Joseph farmed the family farm until retirement. She was a member of the Blue River Wesleyan Church where she taught Sunday School and Bible School for many years. Her memberships included Auxiliary member of the Gideons International, Tri Kappa, and Posey Township Home Economics Club. She and Joseph enjoyed attending their sons and grandchildren’s many activities including 4-H and Purdue Glee Club concerts. Martha took great pleasure in the care of her home she had a knack for interior design and was an amazing housekeeper. Martha enjoyed working at the Rush County Courthouse and Rushville’s Radio Station (WRCR).

Martha is survived by her six sons, Stephen (Ann) Swain of Chalmers, IN, Michael (Suzanne) Swain of Monroe City, IN, Philip (Sue) Swain of Bluffton, IN, James (Debbie) Swain of Vincennes, IN, Robert (Lisa) Swain of Fishers, IN, and David (Julie) Swain of Delphi, IN. Martha will be missed by her grandchildren, Benjamin Swain, Jonathan (Emily) Swain, Andrea (Travis) Piper, Cara (Bryan) Bunte, Julie (Lee) Westgerdes, Allison (Aaron) Chalfant, Hayley Swain, Shelby (Isaac) Myers, Justin (Candice) Swain, Rachel Swain, Emma Swain, Laura Swain, Mason Swain, Natali (Carson) Mann and Ally (Andrew) Imel and 18 great grandchildren and one on the way. Martha is survived by her sister Mary Helen Kaszynski and her sister- in-law, Avonelle Good.

Martha was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph, her two brothers, Myron Good and Dale Good and two infant grandsons.

Services will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2021, at 3:00 pm at the Blue River Wesleyan Church, Arlington, IN with Rev. Aaron Marshall presiding. Friends are welcome to visit the family prior to the service 1:00-3:00pm. Burial will be held in Blue River Wesleyan Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Blue River Wesleyan Church, 534 N 900, Arlington IN 46104 in memory of Martha.
