Theodore E. "Ted" Evans, 84, of Shelbyville, passed away Monday, Dec. 9, 2019, at AMG Specialty Hospital in Greenfield.
Born May 16, 1935, in Greensburg, he was the son of Edgar M. Evans and Elsie M. (Palmer) Evans. He married Sharlene (Fisher) Mann Evans on Dec. 17, 1987, and she preceded him in 2009. He had been previously married Ruth Lightfoot.
Survivors include two sons, Trent Evans (wife, Kim) of Bloomington, and Mark Taylor of Osceola, Indiana; two daughters, Lisa McCarty (husband, Michael) of Indianapolis, and Teresa Droeger (husband, Bob) of Shelbyville; three brothers, Leslie Evans (wife, Linda) of Decatur County, Wayne Evans (wife, Martha) of Decatur County, and John Evans of Greensburg; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two spouses; sister, Betty; and sister-in-law, Gayle Evans.
Mr. Evans was a lifelong resident of this area, graduated from Greensburg High School in 1954, and attended IUPUI. He was an electrical engineer with GE/Wellman's for 35 years, retiring in 2000. He was a member of the Shelbyville Masonic Lodge and served in the Indiana National Guard.
Ted loved gardening and woodworking.
No funeral services will be observed. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
