Head softball coach Mark Hensley earned his 100th career win at Shelbyville on Thursday. The 4A No. 6 Golden Bears beat No. 9 Center Grove 6-3 in nine innings, winning their 23rd game of the season (school record). Sophomore Kylee Edwards hit a go-ahead triple in the top of the ninth inning after senior Addi Weaver (single) and junior Karissa Hamilton (double) safely reached base. Edwards and Weaver both finished the game 3-for-5 at the plate. Hamilton was 2-for-5 with a double. She also hit her 21st home run of the season. SHS freshman pitcher Cheyenne Eads went 6.2 innings in the circle, striking out three. Sophomore Hailey Pogue pitched in relief, allowing zero earned runs while striking out three. Shelbyville will play Columbus North Tuesday at the Shelbyville Sectional.
