The Shelbyville Boys & Girls Club golf outing will be held at Timbergate Golf Course on Sept. 18.

Shelbyville Boys & Girls Club Executive Director Scott Spahr is looking for more participants for the club’s golf outing on Sept. 18.

The outing, which is in memory of Greg Antle, will be held at Timbergate Golf Course. Registration begins at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start to follow at 9 a.m.

The cost to participate is $75 per golfer or $300 per foursome. The fee includes 18 holes (green and cart fee), lunch and a gift.

The Morristown Boys & Girls Club had a great turnout for its golf outing in August.

Spahr is hoping the same happens for the Shelbyville club.

“(Morristown outing) went well, we had a record number of teams. We had 20 teams, which was our limit at Blue Bear Golf Club,” Spahr said. “It was nice to see that course up and running and to be close to home.

“For the next 12 months we will celebrate being in service for 20 years in Morristown. For a small community like Morristown, that is just awesome.”

At the Shelbyville outing, “closest to the pin” and “longest drive” competitions will take place as well as a gimmick involving a hula skirt.

“If you buy a skirt for $20, you get to hit from the ladies tees,” Spahr said. “All proceeds help us keep our doors open and provide for the kids.”

Sponsorships are still available. Contact Spahr at 317-512-5033 for more information.

“There are different levels of sponsorship,” Spahr said. “We could also use more teams; we are looking for about 25 teams.

“We want families out there, that is what the Boys & Girls Club is all about. You talk about golfing for kids, it is a no-brainer.”
