The Shelbyville boys’ golf team competed in the Hoosier Heritage Conference meet Saturday at The Players Club in Yorktown.
Mt. Vernon shot a 335 to win the HHC championship. Shelbyville was eighth overall with a 377.
Matthew Bunton led Shelbyville with a solid round of 87. He shot a 44 on the front nine. Eli Baker also shot a 44 on the front nine for the Golden Bears. Baker finished with a 95 for the day.
Also for Shelbyville, Nolen Chaney shot a 97, Ethan Apsley carded a 98 and Garrett Skaggs finished with a 104.
Yorktown was second (336), New Castle was third (339) and Delta was fourth (341). New Palestine (347), Pendleton Heights (369) and Greenfield-Central (372) rounded out the field.
Kermode throws no-hitter for Tigers
Triton Central senior Hayden Kermode threw a complete-game no-hitter for the Tigers on Friday. TC beat Arsenal Tech, 10-0.
Kermode finished the game with 13 strikeouts.
The Tigers are now 10-11 this season.
TC’s Lewis breaks record
Triton Central senior Alyssa Lewis broke the Triton Central school record in the 300-meter hurdles Friday at the Lutheran Last Chance Invitational.
Lewis finished the race in 49.0. The old record was 49.2.
Lewis, who is having a successful senior season, won the 300 hurdles at the Shelby County meet on May 4. She finished in 50.53.
