The Waldron boys’ cross country team celebrates after winning the Mohawk Invitational Saturday in Waldron.

The Waldron cross country teams hosted the inaugural Mohawk Invitational Saturday in Waldron. Both the boys and girls teams finished as overall team champions.

Hallie Ross led the girls with a fourth-place finish. Will Larrison was the top finisher for the boys, placing second.

Beau Kenkel, Michael Fox

The Shelbyville cross country teams competed in the Rick Weinheimer Invitational at Columbus North.

Kenkel led the SHS boys, finishing in 18:05, which is a 55-second personal record. Fox was right behind him in 18:06 with a 50-second season-best time.

Stefanie Howard, Kaila Brattain

The Shelbyville cross country teams competed in the Rick Weinheimer Invitational at Columbus North.

Howard finished 31st overall in 20:13, which is a 30-second personal best. She is now only 30 seconds away from breaking Shelbyville’s school record.

Brattain finished in 22:05, setting a 28-second personal record.

Aiden Hartsell, Eli Fix

Hartsell scored six goals for the Class A No. 9 Southwestern soccer team in a 6-1 win over Greenwood Christian Academy. Fix finished with four saves in goal. The Spartans are now 6-1 overall. The team’s next contest is Sept. 11 against the defending state champs, No. 2 Providence.

Drew Hassebroek, Christian Haas, Jalen Hounshell

Hassebroek scord two goals for the Shelbyville soccer team in a 3-1 win over Hoosier Heritage Conference foe Delta. Haas added one goal while Hounshell finished with five saves in goal. SHS is now 6-2 overall.

Zavier Poole, Grace McLaughlin

The Morristown cross country teams competed in the Union City Invitational.

Poole led the Morristown boys, placing 33rd in a season-best time of 20:49. McLaughlin was the top finisher for the girls, placing 21st (ribboned). She ran a 24:59, which is a new personal record.
