Waldron senior Amanda Brinson tosses a pitch earlier this season. Shelby County seniors are eligible to apply for The Shelbyville News’ Athletic Scholarship, which will be presented in August.

The Shelbyville News is pleased to announce it is offering a Shelby News’ Athletic Scholarship. This is a great opportunity for a local senior to earn extra money for college expenses.

Eligibility is limited to current Shelby County senior athletes and managers. No subscription to The Shelbyville News is needed. The $500 scholarship will be presented in August.

Although academic performance will be considered, it is not the most important criteria for this scholarship. TSN wants to know what your dream is (career or athletic) and how you plan to achieve that dream. Why is it important to you? What steps will you take to reach it?

To apply, email the following information to kmills@shelbynews.com. The application deadline is July 1.

Name, school, sport(s) played or managed

Parents names and contact information

Your dream (500 words or less)

How you plan to achieve your dream (300 words or less)

Note: If you applied for the KM Sports’ Chase Your Dreams Scholarship, you do not need to apply again. All seniors who previously applied will be considered for the Shelby News’ Athletic Scholarship.
