INDIANAPOLIS — The Triton Central Lady Tigers soccer team took the field Thursday night against the Lutheran Saints for their opening game in the sectional round of play in the IHSAA Girls Soccer Tournament at Park Tudor High School.
Sophomore Lizzie Graham came into the match with a team-high 13 goals on the season, and she certainly added to her total Thursday night tallying four goals on the evening, including tallying a hat trick in the first half of play.
The Lady Tigers kept possession of the ball for much of the game, as they continued their momentum with a 6-0 win over the Saints.
Senior captain Jessika McKee tallied her first goal on the season in the second half of play, tallying an assist as well for the Lady Tigers.
“It’s a good feeling” McKee said. “To get another practice in, and another game in is a great feeling.”
Emma Robey would add a goal late for the Lady Tigers, as they would move on to Saturday’s Sectional Championship against the defending 1A State Champions the Park Tudor Panthers.
Saturday’s match saw the Tigers going up against the same team that ended their season last year in the sectional final, so TC had the extra motivation and it certainly proved to be the case in the first half. The Lady Tigers brought the fight to the Panthers, as they would only concede two goals in the first half.
The Panthers proved to be too much for the Lady Tigers in the second half, as they found the back of the net scoring six goals in the half and holding the Lady Tigers off the scoreboard.
The Lady Tigers fell to the Panthers 8-0 in Saturday’s Sectional Championship, ending on what has been a great season for them.
