Shelbyville senior Madison Bassett was honored Tuesday for breaking the SHS career blocks record. She is on pace to reach 150 blocks (for career) by the end of the season.
Bassett has a team-high 42 blocks this season.
The Golden Bears battled Lawrence Central in a home match. SHS won 3-0 (25-14, 25-13, 25-18) to move to 12-7.
Jaidyn Tackett led the team with 11 kills, six digs and three aces. Shelby Lasure added eight kills. Gracie Leffler finished with 26 assists. Shelbyville has won eight of its last 10 matches.
SHS girls soccer
The Shelbyville girls’ soccer team completed a memorable comeback against Greenwood Christian Academy.
GCA led 3-2 with under two minutes to play. Ava Wilson scored to tie the game at 3-3. Just moments later, Evelyn Kiefer scored with less than 10 seconds on the clock to secure a 4-3 win for the Golden Bears.
Kiefer finished the game with two goals. Becca Valdez also finished with a goal while Sophie Parker had two assists. Emma Sandman had an assist, as well. Macy Cooley had six saves in goal.
SHS (7-3-1) has won five straight games.
The Triton Central tennis team beat Morristown, 5-0.
At one singles, Tucker Hutchinson beat Grant Kessler 6-2, 6-0 while Avram Rund defeated Tyler Schonfeld 6-4, 6-1 at two singles. At three singles, Oliver Gearlds topped Austin Gabbard 6-0, 6-0.
Alex Crouse and Quintin Potts got past Bryce Bryant and Rylan Janes 6-0, 6-0 at one doubles while Griffin Sego and Ashton Sturm beat Carson Essex and Jerry Riley 6-0, 6-0 at two doubles.
The Tigers are 13-6 this season.

Seniors Hallie Ross and Caden Sheaffer both won blue ribbons for the Waldron cross country teams on senior night against Morristown.
